Guitar Exhibitions
Federation Gallery, Cube37 at Frankston Arts Centre
An exhibition of works on the theme of the guitar by invited artists from Frankston and the region. Established artists from the community will be invited to submit one work in any medium. As an incentive, an opportunity to hold an exhibition at the Arts Centre’s Curved Wall later in the year is being offered as a prize.
The Mighty Twang
Glass Studio, Cube37 at Frankston Arts Centre
The world’s biggest portable guitar will be built under intense public scrutiny!
This will be no ordinary instrument! Artists will grapple with bamboo, fabric, paper, sticky tape, string, chewing gum, paint, scraps of stuff and any other and pliable materials that come to hand, to explore the outer limits of creative, off-the-wall guitar making.
The final, extraordinarily controversial results of these artistic endeavours will receive further public exposure as a suspended installation in the Davey Street glass studio for a number of weeks around the Festival.
Local Legends
Retail district of Frankston
In between enjoying the activities at the Festival, take a walk around the retail district of Frankston and look for some very unique window designs at selected retail outlets.
Herald Sun cartoonist, Geoff Hook conducted a series of animation and cartooning workshops with local artists to create these wonderful pieces of fun artwork which depict each retail principal in a very musical way.
Vote for your favourite window and you could win…..plus the artist involved will also win!
